Effective October 1, 2018, the Bank's web site domain suffix will change from .com to .BANK as well as our employees' email addresses. The .BANK domain is a more secure space for online banking and communication since it is verified. A web or email address ending in .BANK quickly and easily confirms you are communicating and transacting with our Bank and not a phisher or a spoofed site.

Phishing is the #1 cyberattack and starting point for most breaches. Phishing and breaches hit an all-time record in 2017, and 2018 is expected to be worse. With artificial intelligence and machine learning, criminals are gathering more data to create increasingly convincing phishing emails, and are sending the attacks to exponentially more bank customers and the public. Criminals utilize phishing emails and spoofed sites to gain access to sensitive information for use in financial crimes, identity theft and breaches.

To combat this threat, a coalition of banks, insurance companies, and financial services trade associations from around the world formed fTLD Registry Services, LLC. fTLD operates the .BANK top level domain (TLD). fTLD'S mission is to operate a trusted, verified, more secure and easily-identifiable online location for banks and their customers.

fTLD was granted the right to operate .BANK on September 25, 2014 and launched the TLD in 2015. fTLD works diligently to enhance trust and security for .BANK on an ongoing basis. All applicants undergo a thorough verification process before being awarded a domain and must comply with strict registry policies ensuring ongoing compliance with the fTLD security requirements.

A .BANK at the end of a URL acts as a built-in stamp of approval for a bank's security measures, letting their customers and the public know their site is trusted, verified and more secure. As a verified domain, criminals simply cannot get a domain or email address that looks like the bank's to impersonate the bank and phish employees and customers. In common domains it is possible for anyone to purchase a domain that looks nearly identical using a variety of alphabets, misspellings, numbers in place of letters, or one that seems it could belong to the bank. A .BANK domain permits a bank to operate in a gated community of banks, giving a visual cue customers can recognize.
